Accutane
Accutane (also known as isotretinoin) is a drug prescribed by dermatologists as a last resort for people with severe, disfiguring acne. Accutane is manufactured by Roche Pharmaceuticals. There are many known side effects caused by or associated with Accutane. The Suthers Law Firm is investigating cases involving the following serious medical conditions and side effects:
- Inflammatory bowel disease, including, but not limited to, Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
- Musculoskeletal injuries, including, but not limited to, bone and muscle damage and deterioration of the spine.
- Birth defects remain one of the most troubling side effects associated with Accutane use by females. The FDA has required the manufacturer of Accutane, Hoffman-LaRoche to revise the Accutane warning label numerous times. Roche's most recent label states that Accutane must not be used by females who are pregnant. Major fetal abnormalities related to Accutane administration in females have been documented. There is also an increased risk of spontaneous abortion. Documented external abnormalities include skull, facial, ear and eye abnormalities.
- Psychiatric side effects, including suicide and attempted suicide.
